Preparations for a RICS APC Assessment.
As assessors, we want candidates to do well.
I was surprisingly nervous last week to complete my first RICS APC interview as an assessor. Having gone through APC many years ago as a candidate, I remember well the vast time, thought and energy that goes into a submission and interview and I wanted to ensure the best experience for the candidates.
One way to become a Chartered Surveyor is to undertake two years of structured training and then undertake your APC, which involves submitting a case study and undertaking an interview. I recently became APC Assessor as I wanted to give back to the RICS and to assist our current graduates in becoming Chartered Surveyors. As an aside, I also thought it would help me develop further skills by pushing me outside my comfort zone.
Historically the APC interview was held in a meeting room face to face but with COVID-19 it was via a Teams meeting. The online format didn’t detract and I was delighted to have completed the assessment successfully and to interview four candidates.
As assessors, we want candidates to do well. If you are looking how to ace the APC final assessment interview, check out this great article.
